It does everything very well and is known for its quality, reliability and resale value. It's comfortable, easy to operate and an easy car to live with in a hectic world. It's pleasant to drive in all circumstances. the camry seats five in comfort yet it's relatively compact and easy to park. It's smooth and quiet, but it can accelerate with vigor. Its cabin is attractive, functional and refined, while its styling is aerodynamic and shows vitality. a wide range of models runs from the well-equipped base camry to the near-luxury camry xle. In between are the popular camry le, a modest step up from the base and available with the v6, and the se, decked out with suspension, tires and trim to please the sporty crowd. Equipped with variable valve timing with intelligence (vvt-i), it's rated at 169 horsepower for the camry, le and xle trim levels and 179 horsepower for the sporty se. Camry v6 models get a 268-horspower 3. 5-liter engine and a six-speed automatic with manual shift feature, and it delivers plenty of response and performance, along with silky smoothness. standard vehicle stability control (vsc) with traction control regulates engine output and brake application to help maintain control on slippery surfaces. The hybrid is equipped with the vehicle dynamics integrated management (vdim) system that helps manage traction and stability through throttle control and brake application, and can even deliver minor steering correction if circumstances require. for 2011, lower-rolling-resistance tires for the v6 models increase epa fuel economy ratings from the previous 19 mpg city/28 mpg highway to 20 mpg city/29 mpg highway for the 2011 camry. since its debut in the united states well over two decades ago, the camry has earned a reputation for smart design, pleasing function, great build quality and long-term durability. The toyota camry remains the benchmark by which its competitors are judged. lineupthe 2011 toyota camry comes in base, le, sporty se, luxury-equipped xle, and the camry hybrid. The base camry 19,595) comes with cloth upholstery, air conditioning and pollen filter, cruise control, power windows and mirrors, manual tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, a multi-function information display with outside temperature, a 160-watt stereo with six speakers, single cd player and auxiliary jack for mp3 devices, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat and 16-inch steel wheels. Xle models add dual-zone auto climate control with an electronic ion filter, a jbl audio upgrade with 440 watts, 6cd changer, bluetooth wireless telephone interface, power passenger seat, power sunroof, split 40/20/40 reclining rear seat, rear reading lamps, manual rear-window sunshade, and 16-inch alloy wheels. The electric motor augments the gas engine's performance and captures energy that would otherwise be wasted as the car slows and brakes, so it can reduce fuel consumption substantially. Not all options are available for all trim levels. safety features on all camrys include a full complement of airbags: dual-stage front airbags, a driver's-knee airbag, upper body-protecting side-impact airbags for front passengers, and head-protecting side air curtains for the front and rear seats. All models come with anti-lock brakes (abs), which aid steering control during a panic stop. The abs features brake assist, which applies the brakes more forcefully and consistently when it senses the onset of a panic stop, and electronic brake-force distribution (ebd), which balances brake application front and rear for optimal stopping distance. A tire-pressure monitor is standard, and vehicle stability control with traction control is standard on all camrys except the hybrid. walkaroundthe camry's front end is the boldest design element, with sharp points, curving cut lines and entertaining surface planes. The hood dips broadly through the middle, pushing visual heft out over the front fenders. There's a toyota emblem above horizontal slats. The single-piece fascia blends all the diverse elements into a smooth aerodynamic look that's several steps away from looking like just another midsize sedan. the side view is less fashionable and somewhat bulky looking, with a high beltline, symmetrical windows and square doors, graced with a barely discernible character line running through flush-mounted door handles. The wheel openings are circular, which on a car with a lower profile might suggest sporty intentions. On the camry, they draw attention to the expanse of sheet metal between them, and instead whisper sedate. the rear end, which looks somewhat like a miniaturized copy of the squared-off trunk lid of the bmw 7 series, finishes the side profile. That bustle-like hump gives the trailing edge of the trunk a slight aero-lip that suggests it's there to reduce rear lift at high speeds. An oversize toyota emblem perches atop the license plate recess. The taillamps repeat the theme of the headlamps and are nicely detailed. The bumper wraps around the back end, capping the corners beneath the taillights and sweeping into a soft, horizontal indentation that, on the v6-equipped models, finishes in cutouts for the chrome-tipped dual exhausts. the camry se is the easiest model to distinguish, and perhaps the boldest of all. The inference of aero treatment on the trunk lid is boosted on the se with a true spoiler. A full body kit flares the lower edge of the car outward, emphasizing the sport model's lower ride height. Six-spoke, 17-inch aluminum wheels fill those circular wheel wells nicely. there's aerodynamic massaging not obvious to the eye, particularly on the sport-tuned se and the other specialty camry, the hybrid. Engineers focused on making the underbody as flat as possible to smooth airflow under the car and reduce noise. on the se, they also tuned the flow to balance downforce, or the aerodynamic force that presses the car to the pavement, nearly equally over the front and rear tires. with the camry hybrid, the aerodynamic focus was on efficiency. Unique wheel spats and underbelly pans reduce the coefficient of drag (cd) to a low 0. 27. While the outside has been touched with a splash of pizzazz, the inside has been brushed with shades of elegance. The treatment is not quite up to, say, lexus-level luxury, but, especially in the top-of-the-line xle, this camry sets a high bar on interior polish for mid-price, mid-size sedans. the cabin is trimmed with a brushed metallic finish in the base, le, se, and hybrid. Real-looking glossy wood grain is used inside the xle, including surrounds for the door-release handles. the fabric upholstery combines breathable, waffle-texture insets with smooth bolsters and backing. The leather upgrade isn't quite kid glove, but it feels expensive. On the less positive side, the hard plastic covering the roof pillars looks cheap, and the mouse fur headliner disappoints. the camry is a roomy sedan, with comfortable seats front and rear, though the seat bottoms are short on thigh support for taller occupants. Rear-seat passengers in the xle enjoy a luxury rarely seen in this class: reclining seatbacks. the sloping hood delivers good sightlines from the driver's seat. The thick c-pillar (that part of the body supporting the roof behind the rear doors), looks less imposing to the driver than from outside the car. Low-profile rear-seat head restraints leave the view in the rearview mirror mostly unblocked. Outside mirrors are placed farther rearward than we'd like, forcing a turn of the head for quick checks instead of just glancing sideways. almost everything inside the camry speaks refined function. The speedometer and tachometer are large, circular and easy to scan, save for brief periods at dusk and under certain types of street lighting, when the luminescent instruments on all but the se can wash out.

2014 toyota tundra review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New looks inside and out, proven mechanicals underneath. introductionthe toyota tundra is a full-size pickup offering realistic work capability and durability. We've found the tundra to be a stable, comfortable truck for towing a 20-foot enclosed car trailer over long distances. Towing capacities top 10,000 pounds on some models, and maximum payload ratings exceed 2,000 pounds. for 2014, there is a new tundra in terms of appearance. The dashboard, electronics and cabin trimming are new and also look better than before. A rearview camera is standard on every 2014 tundra. The engine, suspension and everything underneath are essentially the same with only small calibration changes most owners won't notice. the 2014 toyota tundra lineup is simpler than before. The two-door regular cab only comes in entry-level trim levels and only with a long bed. The double cab with conventional front-hinged, secondary rear side doors seats five or six and comes with 6. 5- or 8-foot beds. Named for the ranch on which the tundra factory sits, the 1794 has requisite big badges, cowboy-color leather and ultrasuede interior, woodgrain trim, and things like ventilated power seats and big jbl sound system to improve the ride after a long day's work. It's a good truck engine with epa fuel-economy ratings of 14/18 mpg city/highway, or 13/17 mpg with 4wd, and standard on most tundra permutations. Most newer competitors offer more power, more mileage or both, but the real world difference tends to be 1-2 mpg. Tundra remains the only full-size pickup to publish tow ratings that meet a standard all full-size manufacturers agreed to for 2013, and those standards tend to lower existing ratings; the other manufacturers are continuing to use their own in-house ratings. the smaller 4. 6-liter dohc v8 engine is rated at 310 horsepower and 327 pound-feet of torque, with slightly better epa fuel-economy ratings of 15/20 mpg city/highway, 14/19 mpg with 4wd. Both v8 engines come with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 4. 6-liter v8 is a good choice for drivers who do not plan to do a lot of towing. the 4. 0-liter v6, available only on some 2wd tundras, nets 270 horsepower, 278 pound-feet of torque and epa ratings of 16/20 mpg city/highway. V6 models can't tow as much as the v8s but easily better the v8s for payload due to the lighter weight of the engine. The v6 comes with a 5-speed automatic. It's the best choice for a budget or intercity work truck, but the 4. 6-liter v8's added refinement could easily be worth the nominal fuel economy penalty. lineupthe 2014 toyota tundra comes in three body styles: regular cab with 8-foot long bed, 4-door double cab with 6 1/2-foot standard bed or 8-foot long bed, and 4-door crew max with a 5 1/2-foot short bed. All ride on a 146-inch wheelbase except the double cab long bed at 165 inches. Double cab is available is sr, sr5 and limited trim levels. Crewmax cabs are offered in sr5, limited, platinum and 1794 edition models all with 5. 5-foot beds. tundra sr comes in regular cab 25,920) with an 8-foot bed and double cab 26,810) body styles and a choice of 4. 0-liter v6 with 5-speed automatic transmission, 4. 6-liter v8, or 5. 7-liter v8 28,465). Options on sr trim include cargo rail retention system, tow hitch on 4. 6 double cab, and a work truck package with vinyl seat and floor that removes cruise control, power accessories and map lights. tundra sr5 trim adds to sr with fog lamps, more chrome outside, entune audio plus (7-inch hi-resolution touchscreen, siriusxm radio with 90-day trial, hd radio with itunes tagging and weather/traffic in metro areas, elsewhere with a smartphone), dark-tint manual sliding rear window, and additional instruments with 3. 5-inch display. Tundra sr5 is available in double cab 29,465) or crewmax 31,825) versions with 4x2 or 4x4 drivelines and a choice of 4. 6-liter v8 or 5. 7-liter v8. Optional equipment includes alloy wheels. Sr5 upgrade package includes bucket front seats, power driver seat, console and shift, tilt and telescope steering wheel, rear underseat storage tray. The trd off-road package features bilstein shocks, unique alloy wheels and michelin tires, skid plates, rear side window privacy glass; and tow hooks on 2wd. tundra limited upgrades to dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, heated 10/4-way power front seats, 20-inch alloy wheels, leather tilt/telescope steering wheel with audio and bluetooth controls, power sliding rear window (horizontal on double cab, vertical on crewmax), auto-dimming mirror, deck rail tie-down cleat system, entune app suite, navigation, upgraded audio system and alarm system. Optional are trd package, moonroof and blind-spot monitor/rear cross traffic alert on crewmax. A limited premium package adds auto up/down power windows, park sensors front and rear, remote keyless entry. All tundra limited models come with 5. 7-liter v8 in double cab 36,94) and crewmax 38,845), with 4x2 or 4x4. tundra platinum 44,270) models get perforated leather diamond-quilt pattern upholstery, heated/cooled front seats, driver memory system, jbl audio system, color-matched bumpers and grille trim, auto-dimming power-folding outside mirrors, moonroof, park sensors and glass breakage sensor. All tundra platinum models come with 5. 7-liter v8 and crewmax but offer a choice of 4x2 or 4x4 47,320). The standard rearview camera can enhance safety by helping the driver spot children behind the truck when backing up. By wheelbase, width, track and height it is among the largest of half-ton pickups. Now squared off and angularized like a body-builder's jaw, it's the most visually imposing tundra yet. for 2014 the rounded lines that led to an inflated look are gone. And the bumper top is lower, so while sr/sr5, limited, platinum and 1794 all get different grille arrangements, those grilles are considerably larger than before. Fog lights are recessed for protection and headlights are single-bulb units; we couldn't verify performance given lightning activity, but every example we drove from sr5 to 1794 had a manual in-cab adjustment for vertical aim, handy for keeping light on the road with a load or trailer on. we find the rear view more improved than the front.
